Before Irene Storm another storms that took place. |
Dear
Dade County Mayor:
1.
We Santa Rosa Marble have been
suffering for a long time this situation in this zone. Every time a small or big
storm arrives, the flooding stop completely our commercial activities.
2.
Some years ago we worked on the streets next to the place were we are
located to try to alleviate this problem. Such works were extremely expensive,
but since the water does not have a place to go it keeps on flooding our
business (showroom and warehouse) causing us great losses in sales. The
contractor who realized the work was

3.
We have understood that for
the taxes we are paying to the city we are entitled to receive at least adequate
conditions such as streets and a good sewer service that will allow us to
develop our activities at a normal pace. We pay a great amount of money annually
because of our financial inversion generates a lot of taxes to our city.
When
the rain season arrives we are totally to the mercy of it because up to today
date you have not done anything to help us solve this problem that we consider
is your responsibility or the responsibility of the corresponding departments.
In
parallel with the property taxes that we pay, we are supposed to receive some
kind of benefit to be able to operate year around and not to be closed a number
of days because of problems like getting to us and to others a boat is needed.
4.
Starting in 79Ave NW from 36th street up to 25th
there is a big lake that affect lots of commercial activities that also pay
taxes and have not received any service so far. We are including a list of the
affected business and how much they pay in taxes.
5.
We are annexing via Internet all the pictures of this situation we have
suffered you could see it at http://www.gam-robert.com/irene%20storm.htm
We
are also attaching a floppy disk with the photos, and also we are sending a
videotape were you can see the whole show.
6.
Possible Solutions:
1.
Build a deep canal in front of us in order for the waters to go into it
and from there to the artificial lake next to the former
Incredible Universe Building. Ever since that building was built the problem
increased significantly.
2.
Also on the street in front
of Santa Rosa Marble (34 St) that runs from the 78 Ave to the 77 Ct. there is
the chance to build a sewer system to redirect the waters to the canal next to
826. In the same way, the other
principal transversal streets that go from 79th go to the Palmetto.
3.
We
need that you name a specialized commission to analyze all the problems of the
affected area mentioned previously and to resolve the problems that the rainy
season creates.
Best regards,
Santa Rosa Marble
